RUBY B. MASSEY

Aug. 11, 1924-April 1, 2015

Ruby Baugus Massey, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Ruby was born in Alleghany County Aug. 11, 1924, to the late Bryant and Ennice McCann Baugus.

She was a member of First Christian Church and Rosewood Extension Homemakers.

Her most significant role in life, and what she did best, was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Ruby leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for the people she cared about. Her enthusiasm and charm will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A service celebrating Ruby's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke and the Rev. Dr. Penny Ziemer officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 71 years, Grover D. Massey; son, Grover D. Massey Jr. and wife, Kaye, of Mount Olive; daughter, Celia M. Dean and husband, Eric, of Goldsboro; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to First Christian Church, 1609 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 3, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

Special thanks to her wonderful church friends and the nurses and doctors who cared for her and her family in so many kind and thoughtful ways through the years and during this time of loss, including Dr. Kevin Kerlin and staff, Dr. Darla Liles and staff at Leo Jenkins and the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
