BRIAN 'CORKY' PERKINS

May 15, 1957-Feb. 19, 2015

Brian Carson "Corky" Perkins, 57, died suddenly at home Thursday.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of Silas and Sarah Evans Perkins of Goldsboro.

A member of IHRA, he was a machinist and well known engine builder for many in the racing community.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with Leonard Downs officiating.

The family asks that all in attendance wear casual dress, as "Corky" would have expected.

Family members will greet friends Saturday following the service at the funeral home.

In addition to his parents, "Corky" is survived by his wife, Wendy Perkins; a son, Brian Perkins of Goldsboro; a brother, Henry Perkins of Goldsboro; a sister, Barbara Thornton of Clinton; and his extended racing family that he loved very much.

Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be directed to the charity of your choice in memory of "Corky."

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home is serving the family, and online condolences may be directed to www.shumate-faulk.com.
