Russell May of Fremont, N.C., born March 29, 1924, died Feb. 18, 2015, passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice in Goldsboro, N.C.
He proudly served his country in World War II from September 1944 to October 1946.
He was preceded in death by wife, Florence Peele May; daughter, Susan May Raper; and brother, C.T. May
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy May Uzzell and husband, David, of Goldsboro, N.C.; sons, Russell May and wife, Shirley, of Apex, N.C., Kenneth May and wife, Dianne, of Smithfield, N.C., Thomas May and wife, Brenda, of Black Creek, N.C., and James May and companion, Richard Tice, of Oxford, N.C.; son-in-law, Edward "Shorty" Raper of Pikeville, N.C.; sister, Louise May Wood of Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, Feb. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Black Creek Community Building.
Arrangements are by Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
