W. HAROLD SUMMERLIN

William Harold Summerlin, 85, Mount Olive resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015.

His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive.

A graveside service of remembrance will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive with the Rev. Frank Harrison officiating.

After retiring from DuPont in Kinston, he was employed by Mount Olive Tribune as a courier, had been a school bus driver for Wayne County Schools, was a mechanic with Waller Hardware and had operated a lawn mower and small engine repair service from his home.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell Johnson Summerlin, of the home; three stepsons, the Rev. Robert Arnold of Grimesland, Mike Arnold of Castle Haynes, and Tom Arnold of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Louise S. Quinn of Hayes, Va.; a brother, Donald Summerlin and wife, Patsy, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Ashley Arnold and Wendy A. Murray; a great-grandson, Nathan Murray; a great-niece who was more like a granddaughter, Cortney Jones of Mount Olive, and her children, Laken and Cason; other "adopted" grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Jones Summerlin; his parents, the Rev. Zeb and Carrie Kornegay Summerlin; and a stepson, Randy Arnold.

Remembered as being a loving husband, PaPa, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend, he will be sorely missed.

After having finished life's course, now may he sweetly rest.
