Nathaniel Coor, 87, Richmond, Va., passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015.

Nathaniel was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Wayne County, N.C., to the late Walker Maryland Coor and Claretta (Parks) Coor.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Johnnie Lee Coor, Walker Maryland Coor, Milford Coor and Lee Anna Cox.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Hilda Ann Coor of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Brenda F. Jackson (Berdell) of Hillside, N.J.; son, Sherman Coor Green (Megan) of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Chrisantha J. James and Nedra Y. Marshall both of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Rosa (Coor) Baker (Eddie) of Goldsboro, N.C., and Alberta (Coor) Jackson of Galloway, N.J.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Coor was a resident of Brooklyn and Springfield Garden, N.Y., for more than 30 years.

He served in the United States Army as a soldier in World War II and Korea.

He retired after 25 years working for the United States Postal Service in New York.

In his retirement, he worked at Westminster Canterbury in Richmond, Va., as a security coordinator.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service in Richmond, Va.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home.
