FREMONT -- Shelva Jean Ham Whitfield, 134 Pinkney Court, died Friday in Smithfield.

Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 Hwy. 70 West, Goldsboro. The Rev. Lynn Epps will officiate.

The family will visit and share memories with friends after the service and at other times at the residence.

Surviving is her companion, Wilson L. Norris; sons, Ben Whitfield (Pam) of Fremont and Tyler Whitfield of Goldsboro; daughters, Ginger Gray of Clayton, Dorie Jean Bedard (Richard) of Pikeville and Tonya Whitfield of the home; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Kenneth Ham (Pam) of Goldsboro.

A native of Wayne County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Mae Radford Ham and Joel Haywood Ham, and her husband, James Whitfield, a daughter, Tammy Darlene Whitfield, and a brother, Sanford Ham. She attended Rosewood Worship Center.
