MARY BOWERS TURNER

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mary Turner was called home on Saturday to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord.

Mary was born in Royston, Ga., to the late Dr. Emory Noah Bowers and Ruby Lloyd Bowers. She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church, where she had served as an officer in her Sunday School class. Mary received an associate degree from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Ga., and was employed with Vocational Rehabilitation in Augusta, Ga.

Most of her adult life was spent as a loving wife, mother and homemaker dedicated to her family and church. She served many years teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was involved in mission programs. Mary was a gracious hostess to friends and family.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, Ga., with Dr. Billy Webb officiating.

Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Neely Edward Turner; her daughters, Peggy SanFratello and husband, Angelo, of Mount Olive, Beth Jarratt and husband, Jimmy, of Madison, Miss., and Janet Shepard and husband, Steve, of Rutledge, Ga.; five grandchildren, Virginia SanFratello-Rael and husband, Ronald Rael, Shelley Kelly, Kate Shepard, Morgan Shepard and James Jarratt; and four great-grandchildren, Bruce, Olivia and Waett Kelly and Mattias Rael.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Bowers, and sister-in-law, Katherine Bowers.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Personal Home Care Solutions, the Brian Center and Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Local arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga. will assist the family with services in Georgia.
