Emmett Shelton Neal, 72, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Shelton was born in Wayne County on Feb. 7, 1942, to the late William Emmitt Neal and Bessie Hollowell Neal. He retired from General Electric after 34 years of service.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Larry Daniels officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Shelton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Hall Neal; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Phyllis Neal, and son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Cindy Neal, all of Rosewood; and his precious grandsons, Matt Neal, Derek Neal and Nicholas Neal.
He is also survived by his great-nephew Chris Neal, who was like a son to Shelton; his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bill Merritt; a special sister-in-law, Marianna Neal; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Neal, and sister, Melva Jean Neal Pelt; and an infant brother, James Robert Neal.
