Albert Oneal "Sholl" Britt, lifelong resident of Garner's Chapel community near Mount Olive, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2015.
Services will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, at Tyndall Funeral Home at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating, and followed by burial in the family cemetery at the residence.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour before the services, and at other times, at the residence.
Mr. Britt was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a retired farmer, known locally for his excellence in growing sweet potatoes.
A lifelong member of Garner's Chapel Baptist Church, he was faithful in his attendance until his death. In past years, his church service included being Sunday school superintendent, as well as that of being a church deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Whitfield Britt of the home; two daughters, Debbie Britt Whaley and husband, David, of Mount Olive and Susan Britt Wilt of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Miranda Goulet and husband, DuWayne, and Kelly Merritt all of Goldsboro and Jason Whaley and wife, Amanda, of Mount Olive; three great-grandchildren, Paul Oneal Whaley, Sadie and Savannah Goulet; two sisters, Minnie Britt Kessler and husband, George, of Indiana and Becky Britt Mendoza and husband, Mendy, of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Those preceding him in death include his son, Phillip Gregory Britt; his mother, Alvie Goodson Britt; father, Benjamin Oneal Britt; stepmother, Sophia Killette Britt; brothers, Marvin Britt, Ralph "Dick" Britt and Tom Britt; and a sister, Betty Britt "Sis" DeLuca.
