Vollis Reid Barnes, 79, Rocky Mount, died at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh Friday.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Wilson, with the Rev. Jacky Raper officiating.
Born in Johnston County Sept. 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Simon Peter Barnes and the late Renda Elizabeth Hales Barnes. He was married to Joan Pike Barnes.
He is also survived by two daughters and a son.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minshew-Coley Funeral Home in Kenly.
