JOHN EBBIN HOUSE

John Ebbin House, 82, Pikeville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. House was born in Greene County on Nov. 7, 1931, to the late Theodore Ebbin and Sarah Barnhill House.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as deacon and sang in the choir.

He was also a volunteer with the Goldsboro Rescue.

Mr. House was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, Coast Guard and Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia House; a son, Jesse Ebbin House and wife, Regina, of Apex; two daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Lynne Yarbrough and husband, Timothy, of Goldsboro and Jo Ellen Ham and husband, Mitchell, of Goldsboro; two sisters, Geraldine Johnson and husband, Wayne, of Oxford and Sarah Elizabeth Whitehead and husband, Robert, of Henrico; six grandchildren, Adam Ham and wife, Rocksand, Nicholas Ham, Jacob Ham, Lindsay Yarbrough, Hannah Yarbrough and Ryan House; and three great-grandchildren, Kaydence McCarty, Rebekah Ham and Jessa Ham.
