REV. R. VIRGIL WHITEHURST

The Rev. Ralph Virgil Whitehurst, 83, Fuquay-Varina, went to be with the Lord Saturday.
He was born in Pitt County to the late Claude and Lossie Bell Whitehurst, and he served his country in the United States Air Force and United States Army as a chaplain.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Ralph Whitehurst, and siblings, Virginia Belle, Louallie, Christine, Josephine, Garland and Harril.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1701 Bud Lipscomb Road, Willow Spring, N.C., and burial to follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise B. Whitehurst Baxter of England and Carol L. Whitehurst of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Stephen, Claire and Emma Baxter; six great-grandchildren; and his very special companion, "Taffy."
Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund, Willow Spring, N.C.
