Cassie Woodard Hinson, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Cassie was born in Johnston County Dec. 15, 1928, to the late Carvie and Ava Summerlin Woodard. She was married to the late James Floyd Hinson.

Cassie was a longtime member of Black Jack Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church, served as choir director for 50 years and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Cassie had a sparkle in her eye and a heartwarming, generous spirit, always making everyone feel at home. Her faith, strength and courage during challenging times inspired all who knew her.

She loved life and the life she had with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. God had blessed her with all his love. She will live forever in all our hearts. We will see her one day in heaven; she is at rest now in the arms of God.

A service celebrating Cassie's life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Sherman, the Rev. Dennis Pollock and the Rev. Pete Radford officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Carlton and Renee Hinson.
