Christine Byrd Daughtry, 84, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Christine was born in Wayne County Jan. 16, 1930, to the late James O'Neal Byrd and Rosa Craddock Byrd.

She was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother.

During the first 25 years of her marriage, she was a homemaker and mother.

In 1975, she received her Realtor's license, and sold real estate in Asheboro, N.C., for several years.

In 1981, she co-founded The Children's Hut Consignment Store in Goldsboro, N.C.

Christine was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, from 1 to 2:15 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating her life at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Fulkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Christine is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Floyd Daughtry Jr.; daughter, Jan Metzler and husband, Marty, of Goldsboro; son, Don Daughtry and wife, Natalie, of John's Creek, Ga.; grandchildren, Mark Daughtry Metzler and wife, Lauren, Samuel Daughtry Metzler and wife, Martha, Beth Daughtry Guth and husband, Tom, Bob Daughtry and Alexander Daughtry; and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Austin Daughtry of Marietta, Ga.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Daughtry.
