SADIE S. BOING

Sadie "Mike" Boing, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Sept. 13, 2014, after a brief illness.

Born in LaGrange, N.C., Sept. 30, 1924, to Jim and Eliza Sutton, Mike was the youngest of four children. She grew up in LaGrange with one brother, Horace, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Lucille.

After attending East Carolina, she worked at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, where she met her future husband, retired Lt. Col. William Frank Boing Jr.

As an Air Force wife, she enjoyed traveling the world for 16 years with her family.

Mike was predeceased by her husband in 1964.

Soon after his death, Mike returned home to Goldsboro, where she was a longtime employee of the Wayne County School System.

An independent lady until her final few days, Mike was an avid bridge player, who also enjoyed going to lunch with her many longtime friends.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Herring; daughter, Donna Speas and her husband, Kelly, of Roanoke, Va.; son, Michael Boing and his wife, Jessica, of Weaverville; four grandchildren, Amy Speas of Greensboro, Bill Speas and his wife, Emily, of Atlanta, Ga., Conor Boing and his wife, Jennifer, of Raleigh and Rachel Boing and her husband, Luke Lanier, currently residing in Thailand; and great-granddaughters, Mary Dean Speas and Sadie Frazier Boing.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. St. Paul United Methodist Church, Goldsboro.
