COY 'HOOVER' ALLIGOOD

Coy "Hoover" Alligood, 85, resident of 648 Mill Hole Road, Washington, N.C., passed away Monday Sept. 8, 2014, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Alligood Cemetery, officiated by Tony Krantz.

The family will receive friends at the home at 648 Mill Hole Road, Washington, N.C.

Mr. Alligood was born in Beaufort County Oct. 11, 1928, to the late Charlie Thomas and Eva Woolard Alligood.

Aug. 28, 1949, he married Annie Lillian Cutler, who passed away March 26, 2005.

He was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.

Hoover began farming at a young age, and later joined the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he worked for 35 years.

He loved gardening and fishing, but always put family first.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Lane Alligood and wife, Cindy Rae, of Mount Olive and Charlie Oden Alligood of Pinetown; three daughters, Teresa Amelia Freeman and husband, "Bully," of Washington, Derise Lillian Regal and husband, Jason, of Washington and Kathy Lynn Lilley of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Lou Alligood of Washington; a brother, Joseph T. Alligood of Washington; three sisters, Louise Marshall of Tallahassee, Fla., Thelma Picard of Washington and Sybil McInturf of Harrisonburg, Va.; a special niece and caretaker, Barbara Mooring; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, expecting the 15th in March; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Kermit Gene Alligood, and two brothers, John Edward Alligood and Swindell Alligood.
