DORIS JONES SASSER

April 11, 1928-Sept. 3, 2014

Doris Jones Sasser, 86, Pikeville, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Doris was born in Wayne County April 11, 1928, to the late Eva Parrish Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ransom Sasser Jr.

They owned and operated Ronald Sasser Body Shop and Sasser Auto Salvage until his death in 1987.

Following his death, she continued to operate the family business with her children until she retired in 1993.

Doris also served in ministry with her husband as they founded Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was devoted to her church, and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Doris also had a great love for gospel music, and she used her love for music by singing in several different groups.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Doris' life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Berry House and the Rev. Gerald Holloman officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Doris is survived by her son, Ronnie Sasser of Pikeville; daughter, Shelia Collier of Pikeville; grandsons, Darren Thompson, Dean Thompson, Ron Sasser, Dustin Sasser and Derrick Sasser; two great-grandchildren, Stella Sasser and Landen Thompson; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Tate Peterson and Ragan Peterson.
