Dorothy Davis Herring, 90, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born in Wayne County Aug. 5, 1924, to the late John M. Davis and Ella Hill Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Clifton Herring, and her son, Bruce Sherrill Herring.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Davis Family Cemetery, with the Rev. J. Wesley Jarman and McGee Smith officiating.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Edith Smith and Betty Jo Walker; sons, John D. Herring, Glenn Herring, William Michael Herring and Elton Eugene Herring; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
