Gwen Pelletier Wade, 82, Ayden, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014.

Gwen was born June 5, 1932, in Lenoir County to the late Mark and Cora Braxton Pelletier.

Gwen was a member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church.

She enjoyed cross-stitching and cooking.

Gwen was a loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. Her life set an example for her children and grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at 2 p.m. at LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Ronnie Hobgood officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Gwen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ben J. Wade; three daughters, Mary Wade Gresham of Ayden, Sue Wade Smith and husband, Don Smith, of Goldsboro and Kim Wade Kennedy and husband, retired United States Air Force Col. Joseph C. Kennedy, of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Blake Bright of Goldsboro, Jake Kennedy and wife, Taylor, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Tyler Kennedy of Dallas, Texas, and Ashley Kennedy of Stillwater, Okla.; brother, Ira Pelletier and wife, Frankie, of Archdale; two sisters, Louise Huskey and husband, William, of Chapel Hill and Valerie Burmahl and husband, Paul, of Durham; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lockamy of Kinston and Sally Ruth Scott of LaGrange.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Pelletier Jr. and Charles Pelletier.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange.
