VICTORIA LYNCH GURLEY

Victoria Lynch Gurley, 94, Grantham, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

Victoria was born in Johnston County May 28, 1920, to the late Jake Lynch and Eunice Overby Lynch McFatter. She was married to the late Eugene Gurley.

Victoria enjoyed the simple life on the farm with her family, farming the land, working with her pigs and quilting.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Overby Cemetery on Baker's Chapel Road, Smithfield, N.C., in Johnston County, with the Rev. Kelvin Gurley officiating.

Victoria is survived by her daughters, Peggy G. Warrick and Shirley G. Burgette; sons, Ray Gurley and Eugene Gurley Jr.; brother, Roy McFatter; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Victoria was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Gurley; daughter, Betty Fay G. Jackson; brothers, Lewis Ray McFatter and Douglas McFatter; and her sister, Emma Phillips.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
