Lloyd Edward Dawson, 71, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Lloyd was born in Boston, Mass., Jan. 23, 1943, to the late Merritt and Dorothy Johnson Dawson.

He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, where he proudly served as a deacon.

Lloyd served his country in the United States Air Force.

He was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life; he lived to work.

He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them. He enjoyed a great conversation with his customers over the years as a sales representative for US Foodservice.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville, with the Rev. John Hill officiating.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy Carraway Dawson; son, Michael Dawson and wife, Erika, of Greenville; daughter, Robin Dawson of Greenville; grandchildren, Elijah and Ezekiel Dawson; brother, Paul Dawson of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donnie and Dan Caroon of Raleigh; and special cousin, Roger Letchworth.

The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
