Lillian Potts Strickland, 99, Mount Olive area resident, died Sunday, Aug. 3.

Funeral will be Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with visitation immediately following. Burial will be Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

She worshipped at Cricket Ridge Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

For many years, she and her late husband, Herman Strickland, owned and operated Strickland's Store, and were known for their helpfulness in serving others.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine Strickland Turner and the Rev. Harold Glenn Turner of Jacksonville; her son and daughter-in-law, Herman Norwood Strickland and Dorothy Parks Strickland of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Harold Glenn Turner Jr. of Burgaw, Sherry T. Kennedy and husband, Brian Kennedy, of Pink Hill and Amy Strickland Rouse and husband, Greg Rouse, of Seven Springs; six great-grandchildren, Davin Turner, Kirstin Turner, Ciarra Kennedy, Connor Kennedy, Aden Rouse and Anderson Rouse; two sisters-in-law, Inez W. Potts of Mount Olive and Flora B. Strickland of Seven Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, David and Hepsie Roberts Potts, and her siblings, David Russell Potts, Margaret P. Culbreth, George R. Potts and Lola P. Byrd.
