EVA U. STARKE

Eva Uptegrove Starke, 75, longtime Faison resident, passed away Sunday night, July 20, at Wayne Hospital.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 6 p.m. at Faison United Methodist Church, with her pastor, the Rev. Jabe Largen, officiating, and with visitation following.
Mrs. Starke, daughter of the late Robert Lee Uptegrove and Callie Victoria Hill Uptegrove and the widow of Raymond H. Starke, was an active member of Faison United Methodist Church.
She was devoted to her family and community, and was always ready to volunteer her time and talents to those in need.
She had a distinguished 40-year career as a registered nurse at Seymour Johnson Base Hospital.
She is survived by her three children, Vickie Starke of Faison, Mary Starke Cruz and husband, Mark, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Michael Starke of Faison; a brother, Robert Lee Uptegrove Jr. of Titusville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Leslie H. Williams of Goldsboro, Makayla Cruz, Zachary Cruz and Karley Cruz all of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Hunter Starke of Faison; and a great-grandson, Trent Williams of Goldsboro.
