VIRGINIA LYNCH CUNNINGHAM

Aug. 7, 1926-July 11, 2014

Virginia Lynch Cunningham, 87, Grifton, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at Magnolia Cottage surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born in Wayne County Aug. 7, 1926, to the late John Lemly and Lena Mae Walters Lynch.

Virginia had worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse with Lenior Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Bethel Christian Church.

Virginia leaves a vacant place in our hearts; we know she truly earned her special place in heaven. She will always be remembered as a loyal woman of faith, love and respect for everyone who touched her life.

Virginia had the ability to light up a room and quickly bring a smile to faces with her keen sense of humor. The best of Virginia will live on in each of us. She will be well-remembered for the countless number of teacakes and her famous potato salad she made.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014, in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange, with the Rev. Bert Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Debbie Roberts and husband, Bill, of LaGrange; sons, Lynwood Cunningham and wife, Virginia, of Grifton, Jeff Cunningham of Grifton, Larry Cunningham and wife, Joyce, of Grifton and Mike Cunningham and wife, Rachel, of Grifton; brother, Eugene Lynch of Sulfolk, Va.; sister, Alice Wood of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Vance Cunningham; brothers, John Lynch Jr., Jesse Wayne Lynch and Carroll Lynch; and sisters, Hazel Parker and Dorothy Hussey.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.

Virginia's family would like to give a special thanks to Sherry Griffin and all of the workers at Magnolia Cottage Care for the love and compassion that was shown to her and the family during her time of sickness.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests the donations may be made to Bethel Christian Church, 5555 Skeeter Pond Road, Grifton, N.C., 28530.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.rousefh.com.
