Ernest Otto Griffin Sr., 92, Seven Springs, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home.
Otto was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Duplin County to the late Joseph Thomas Griffin and Bertie Herring Griffin.
Otto proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Navy.
He later worked as a iron worker and farmer.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery.
Otto is survived by his wife, Hazel Fitzsimmons Griffin; three children, Ernest Otto Griffin Jr. and wife, Vicky, of Seven Springs, Danny Griffin and wife, Brenda, of Alabama and Lin Griffin and wife, Sherry, of Virginia; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Otto was preceded in death by a son, Larry.
The family will receive Saturday following the graveside service.
