Nathaniel "Boogie" Matthews, 73, 216 Alum Springs Roaad, Mount Olive, died Sunday at home.
Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Big Zion AME Zion Church in Kenansville, with the Rev. Stanley Swinson officiating. Burial will be in Scott's Store Community Cemetery.
Born in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Aretha Everett Matthews, and husband of Gloria B. Matthews.
Five children survive.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home chapel, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home.
