RANSOM E. HOLT

R.E. Holt, 84, resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., since 1954, entered eternal life on the 4th of April 2014.

He was also known as "Red" and "Randy" Holt.

He served his country honorably for 29 years in the United States Air Force, and retired as a senior master sergeant.

He then went on to work for the United States Postal Service for 12 more years.

He was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa and father-in-law.

R.E. entered life on the 31st of October, 1929, in Princeton, N.C., the son of Ransom E. Holt Sr. and Ella Mae Holt.

He was raised in Goldsboro, N.C.

He married Nell Devon Smith Oct. 1, 1955, in Dillon, S.C. Together they traveled numerous places with the military.

He later retired and lived the remainder of his life in Colorado Springs.

R.E. enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and most of all, spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Nell, of 58 years; his daughter, Dee (and Charlie) Brown; and his grandson, Dustin "Catfish" Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ed Krebs; his three sisters, Jessie Brock, Nita Pearl Ellis and Donny Ruth Lee; and his brother, Bobby Holt.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m.

Graveside services with Air Force honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery. To attend the services, please meet the procession at the north gate parking lot at 1:15 p.m.
