GERDA "SUE" MONEYPENNY

Gerda "Sue" Moneypenny, 84, beloved mother, homemaker and retired Wayne Community College sewing instructor, entered life triumphant Tuesday, March 25, in Hillsborough, N.C.

She was the wife of the late William "Bill" Moneypenny, a local well-known private pilot, pilot instructor and FAA flight examiner, who predeceased her in 2011.

A memorial service, conducted by pastor Bill Ordelt of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Goldsboro, will be held at Brookshire Nursing Center, 300 Meadowland Drive in Hillsborough, Thursday, April 3, at 2:30 p.m., with refreshments and remembrances following.

At 3:45 p.m. her daughter, Susan, will call the first ever Gerda "Memorial Big Buck" bingo session in her honor. Guests, residents and staff, old or young, are invited to participate in Gerda's favorite game.

To accommodate out-of-state family, a celebration of Gerda's life is scheduled Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was a member since 1967.

Donations may be made in Gerda's memory to Good Shepherd Music Program and sent to the church at 532 E. Country Day Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Survivors include Gerda's children, Bill Moneypenny of Chapel Hill, Steve Moneypenny (and wife, Carol) of Raleigh and Holden Beach, N.C., and Susan Moneypenny of Goldsboro; sister, Ursula Rinaldi of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Gottfried Dulias of Patchogue, N.Y.; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; six nieces; and a nephew.
