WILLIAM L. PATE

William Leslie "Bill" Pate, 58, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Bill was born in Wayne County, N.C., May 28, 1955, to Ruth Faulk Pate of Goldsboro and the late Norwood Pate.

Prior to his illness, he was employed with Goldsboro Milling Co.

Bill proudly served his country with the Army National Guard, 691st Maintenance Co., Fremont, N.C. He was a veteran of the Gulf War.

Bill was a man who loved his family and his country. He was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan, and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred Crank officiating. Interment will follow in Silas-Pike Cemetery in Pikeville, N.C.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times, at the home of Martha Pate, 141 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy Hughes Pate; son, William Kyle Pate and wife, Abby, of Rocky Mount; sisters, Mary Newcomb and Martha Pate both of Goldsboro; brother, Ollie Pate; and his nephews, Justin Newcomb and Tyler Newcomb.
