BOBBY G. KENNEDY

KNIGHTDALE -- Bobby Gene Kennedy, 70, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Wake Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Bobby was born in Wayne County Aug. 19, 1943, to the late Silas and Lanie Collins Kennedy. He was married to the late Donna Davis Kennedy.

Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and for many years, worked in the transportation industry.

He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, and Goldsboro Masonic Lodge No. 634 A.F. and A.M.

Bobby was an avid sports fan, and had coached youth sports at the Wayne County Boys Club.

He loved the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

Bobby also served as a Boy Scout volunteer with Troop 11 in Goldsboro.

Although Bobby leaves a vacant place in our hearts, we know he truly earned his special place in heaven. He was deeply devoted to his family, and was happiest when he was spending time in family/friend gatherings. Bobby will always be remembered as a loyal man of faith, love and respect for everyone who touched his life.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Siefert officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Bobby is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Katie Kennedy of Knightdale; grandchildren, Emma and Silas Kennedy; and his sister, Connie Kennedy of Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Boy Scouts of America Tuscarora Council, P.O. Box 1436, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533, or Knightdale United Methodist Church, 7071 Forestville Road, Knightdale, N.C., 27545.
