TOM BARDEN

Nov. 21, 1944-Jan. 17, 2014

Woodrow Thomas Barden, Sr., 69, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Tom was born in Nash County Nov. 21, 1944, to the late Woodrow Wilson Barden and Bertie Edwards Barden.

He was employed for many years as the maintenance director for Goldsboro City Schools.

He also taught industrial arts to many Wayne County students.

Tom was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods, and was a skilled wood craftsman.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved being on the water as a licensed boat captain.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Tom is survived by his wife, Melba Parker Barden; daughter, Camille Barden of Pittsboro; son, Woody Barden of Goldsboro; sister, Carolyn Morris and husband, George, of Raleigh; and nephews, Brent Morris and wife, Kelly, and Brad Morris and wife, April.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
