JOSEPHINE D. BANNON

Josephine Tavzelj Dunn Bannon, 91, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Jo was born Jan. 20, 1922, (of Yugoslavian immigrants) in Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Josefa Tavzelj; sister, Francis Long; husband, Kenneth Bannon; husband, Thomas Dunn; and son, Glen Dunn.

Jo is survived by her sisters, Alice Bederka, Julia LaPrad and Carol Choryan, numerous nieces and nephews and her dear close friends.

Jo's love of life was evident with stories she regaled to her nieces about growing up in Detroit.

She served as a yeoman in the United States Navy during World War II. She retired after 40 years with the UAW and Ford Motor Co. in Detroit.

Always a gracious lady and hostess, very loving, very generous. Jo appreciated life head-on with joyful acceptance and lots of laughter. Jo enjoyed daily her four o'clock "coffee" with her close friends ,where laughter and food were on the menu.

Jo loved the Lord, St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and the church members, who greeted her every Sunday before Mass.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, with the Rev. Patrick Keane as celebrant.

Honoring Jo's wishes, there will be no visitation.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Mary's Family Life Center or school endorsement at St. Mary's.
