FAISON -- Albert William Penner Sr., 83, Faison, N.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
Born Jan. 1, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Ludmilla Starc Penner.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and served in Okinawa, Japan, where he earned the rank of sergeant.
Albert is survived by his wife, Helen Jones; his children, Albert W. Penner Jr. of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Ramona Penner Miles (Roy) of Winter Garden, Fla., Ann Marie Penner Fleet (Dan) of Liverpool, N.Y., Andrea Penner Gradel (Tom) of Chapin, S.C., and Marcella Penner Tripoli (Jimmy) of Kirkville, N.Y.
Two brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
