MOUNT OLIVE -- Willie Preston Singleton, 63, Scott's Store community near Mount Olive, passed away early Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at his home.
He was the son of the late Willie R. and Phoebe Singleton, and he was their only child.
Services to remember Preston's life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Dail, and followed by visitation. Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. at Grady Family Cemetery.
Friends are also being received at the Henry Carroll Grady residence, 335 Albert Grady Road, Mount Olive.
Preston is survived by his adoptive family, the Henry Carroll Gradys, which includes Henry Carroll and Jean Grady, Hank, Kenny and Brandon Grady, Mitzi Bryan and Pam, Haley, Kylie, Buddy and Danielle Grady all of Mount Olive.
He is also survived by an aunt and several cousins.
A gentle soul, Preston was known for his willingness to help anybody. A well-liked member of his community, he enjoyed being around people, and was especially fond of the Grady children, whom he would gleefully watch as they would play. Indeed, he will be sorely missed.
