WILSON -- Jimmy Owens, 67, Wilson, passed away Thursday.

A celebration of life will be held 7 p.m. Monday at Joyner's Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Fletcher will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday evening immediately following the service at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, and at other times, at the home.

Jimmy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a heavy duty mechanic with Gregory Poole Equipment in Raleigh, and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Patsy Saulter Owens of the home; daughter, Kristy Owens Anderson and husband, Joel, of Wilson; grandson, Jamin O. Anderson of Wilson; sisters, Peggy Owens Benton and husband, Carl, of Fremont and Joan Owens Comer and husband, Jeral, of Pikeville; numerous nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and faithful companions, Rocky and Angel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clifton and Ruth Lee Price Owens, and sisters, Aileen West, Daphne Lucas and Barbara Webster.

The Owens family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield and the staff of the Sunshine Agency in Wilson.
