INDIAN SPRINGS -- Ruth Shivar Adams Holmes, 89, Indian Springs community, Dudley, N.C., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Willow Creek Nursing Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Rick Ringney officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Mrs. Holmes, a native of Seven Springs, had been a longtime resident of the Indian Springs community. She was a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Hayward and Jo Ann Adams of Yulee, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Nikki Adams of Grimesland; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lyda Smith of Indian Springs and Carolyn Mozingo of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mrs. Holmes in death were her husbands, Albert Jackson Adams and Milford Olen Holmes; a son, Allen Adams; a daughter, Janet H. Sasser; her parents, Mack C. and Lottie Nunn Shivar; a sister, Sybil S. Price; five brothers, Horace, Douglas, Ned, David R. and Melvin "Jiggs" Shivar; and a great-granddaughter.
