Jethro Hare Jr., 79, went to be with his Lord and savior Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Mr. Hare was born in Wayne County Aug. 2, 1934, to the late Gethro and Mary Roberts Hare.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired farmer.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in LaGrange, and part of the Hardee's Breakfast Club on Wayne Memorial Drive.

Jethro fought for his country, loved the land he harvested and loved the Lord with all his heart. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hare; daughter, Cindy Mackvick and husband, Jeff, of Clayton; a sister, Edna Candler of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Ariel, Leah, Will and Cody; and his special beloved dog, Smokey.
