SYBIL L. MURRAY

Sybil Lee Murray, 65, Goldsboro, N.C., passed away Thursday after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at Vidant Hospital in Greenville, N.C.

Born in Darlington, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Jesse Edward Lee and Leila Lee.

She was a successful real estate agent and broker in Wayne County for more than 20 years, having received multiple Century 21 Gold Awards and the 2002 Realtor of the Year. She was also past president of the Goldsboro-Wayne Realtors Association.

Sybil enjoyed cooking, writing, telling stories, spending time with her grandchildren and helping anyone in need.

She is survived by a daughter, Chrystal Barnett and husband, Mark Barnett, of LaGrange, N.C.; son, Bobby Scott Shoemake and wife, Karen Shoemake, of Goldsboro, N.C.; son, Jesse Lee Murray and wife, Jessica Murray, of LaGrange, N.C.; four grandchildren, Mark Barnett, Savannah Juhn Shoemake, Harlee Murray and Katherine Murray; three brothers, Bobby Lee and Donald Lee of Hartsville, S.C., and Jerry Lee of Riverside, Calif.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse "Edward" Lee Jr. and Stephen Lee.

The family will receive friends at the home of Bobby Scott Shoemake, 1104 Lamplighter Circle, Goldsboro, N.C., Monday, Aug. 19, between the hours of 6 and 8:30 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Community Baptist Church, P.O. Box 68, LaGrange, N.C., 28551, in memory of Sybil Murray.

The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and other medical staff at Lenoir Memorial Hospital and Vidant Hospital for their compassionate care.
