RAMONA HICKS KIRBY

PIKEVILLE -- Ramona Hicks Kirby, 83, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Ramona was born in Wayne County on Dec. 12, 1929, to the late James William "Will" Hicks and Bessie Sullivan Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jack Kirby, on Nov. 13, 2012.
Ramona was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Ramona retired from Belk after many years of service.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.
Ramona is survived by her children, Beverly Gregory of Tallahassee, Fla., Jerry Kirby and wife, Phyllis, of Goldsboro and Kim Nicholson and husband, John, of Raleigh; and her grandchildren, Daniel Kirby, Dana K. Johnson and husband, John, Lauren Warren and Lindsey Nicholson.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1100 Pikeville-Princeton Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
