JERE D. HILBURN

Jere Dean Hilburn, 82, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, July 29, 2013, at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro with military honors.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hilburn was born in New Hanover County on July 16, 1931, to the late Andrew Clarence and Gusta Barnhill Hilburn.

He served in the United States Coast Guard, and was the past owner of Hilburn Printing Company in Goldsboro. He was a member of the Lions Club, Optimist Club and Goldsboro Touch Down Club. He also served on several boards including the Goldsboro Touch Down, Goldsboro Boys Club, Goldsboro Credit Union and two terms as a Walnut Creek Country Club board member. He was a Mason of the Scottish and York Rite and a Shriner.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Linda Hilburn; son, Jere Dean Hilburn Jr; daughter, Teri Nicole Wooten and husband, Michael; stepson, Don Percise Jr. and wife, Wanda; two stepdaughters, Karen Percise and Paige Walker and husband, Mark; one brother, AC Hilburn Jr. and wife, Nora; one sister, Betty Schramm and husband, Ken; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter in heaven, Katina Leigh Hilburn; and a sister, Lillian Grance Flythe.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center or the Wounded Warriors Project.
