Julia Loftin Smith, 97, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, at her home.

Julia was born in Lenoir County on July 23, 1915, to the late John Jason Loftin and Alice Becton Loftin. She was married to the late Joseph Thomas Smith Sr.

Julia was loved by all who knew her. She loved life and the life she had with her family. God blessed her with all His love, as she enjoyed reading God's word in the Bible each day. She will live forever in all our hearts. We will see her one day in Heaven; she is at rest now, in the arms of God. He was her strength and ours too.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2013, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery near the home.

Julia is survived by her children, Thomas Smith Jr. and Evelyn of Farmville, Jason Smith and Gloria of Hampton, Va., Fleeta Lee of Princeton, Linda McCullen and David of Gates, Jean Wiggs of Pikeville, Nadine Going and Mark of Goldsboro, Sandra Dohman and David of Snow Hill and Connie Perrien of Suffolk, Va.; 29 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Baby Boy Smith and Bob Smith; daughter, Peggy Tyndall; and grandsons, Tony Smith, Jerry Smith and Larry Thomas Smith.
