OPHELIA H. HOWELL

Ophelia Hollowell Howell, 80, passed away on Friday at the Brian Center surrounded by her family.

Ophelia was born in Wayne County on Jan. 11, 1933, to the late Armon and Verlie Viola Wiggs Hollowell. She retired from Acme after 20 years of service. Ophelia was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister. Ophelia will always be loved by her children and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with bishop J.W. Bass presiding. Interment will follow in the Nahunta Cemetery, Pikeville. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

Ophelia is survived by her daughter, Helen Hawkins of Pikeville; her son, Chester Rayye Howell and wife, Jackie, of Pikeville; sisters, Judy Taylor of Pikeville, Lorraine Grice of Kenly, Nellie Burgess of Pikeville and Cornelia Edwards of Charlotte; brother, Willie Hollowell of Pikeville; and four grandchildren, Monica Warren, Shannon Howell, Christopher Howell and Charles Howell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Edna Rose Howell; son, James Russell Howell; and brother, Wilbert Hollowell.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to her sister, Judy Taylor, who was not only a sister, but also a special friend and caregiver through all the years.
