FRANCES G. HOWELL

Frances Leona Godwin Howell, 83, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Frances was born in Suffolk County, Va., on May 19, 1930, to the late Needham Frank Godwin and Leona Capps Godwin. For over 20 years, Frances delivered the Goldsboro News-Argus in Wayne County and was also a substitute teacher at Rosewood School. In 1948, Frances married her sweetheart, John Howell, and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage while farming in the Rosewood Community. She always enjoyed her time researching genealogy. She had several books published and placed in several libraries across North Carolina. Frances was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Frances was the kindest and most loving wife, mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

A service celebrating her life will be held Monday, June 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. David Pate officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her sons, John Howell Jr. (Johnny) and wife, Sue, Douglas Howell and wife, Cheryl, and Darren Howell and fiancée, Kim Smith; grandchildren, Denise Clark, Trent Howell, Deanna Wheeler and Paige Howell; and great-grandchildren, Josh Clark, Jonah Clark and Brady Wheeler. She is also survived by her brother, Millard Godwin; sisters, Sonja Hopkins and Linda Calisto; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 3859 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
