PRINCETON -- Devid Allen Smith, 74, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Devid was born in Wayne County May 18, 1939, to the late George and Elgie Radford Smith.

He was a retired truck driver and a retired security guard with Nahunta Pork Center.

Devid served his country in the United States Navy.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Devid is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maggie G. Smith; his daughters, Billie Mae Lancaster and husband, Junior, of Pikeville, Bonnie Edlena Norman and friend, Charles Towns, of Baton Rouge, La., and Elgie Rebecca Cotter and fiancé, Donald Holmes, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Keith Lancaster and Sheri, Jamie Lee Lancaster, Larry Norman and wife, Beth, Allen Norman, William Norman and Dallas Cotter; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Sarah and Jacob.

He is also survived by sisters, Viola Lucas, Linda Vick, and Juanita Strickland; brothers, Andrew, Roy and Kenneth Smith; and his special K-9 friend, Sammie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marlon Mashea Darden; sister, Hilda Howell; and brothers, George, Floyd, Clifton, Ray and Johnnie Smith.
