CHARLES A. NEWTON

Charles Arthur Newton, 100, died Friday morning at Alterra Sterling House of Goldsboro.

He was born in Vermont to the late Timothy Winter and Hattie Anna Flint Newton. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy and had served in World War II.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Evangelist Doug Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

He is survived by his loving wife Loudell Johnston Newton; and four children, Charles, Timothy, Nancy and Sally.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Honor Flight, P.O. Box 505, La Crosse, Wis., 54602-0505, so that veterans may have the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials erected in their honor.
