SEVEN SPRINGS -- Clayton Roscoe Moore Jr., 75 of Camp Jubilee Road, passed away Tuesday evening, March 5, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A service to remember his life will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m., at Tyndall Funeral Home, and will be officiated by his brothers, the Rev. Thomas Moore and the Rev. Johnny Moore. Visitation will immediately follow the service, and interment will then take place in the Pineview Cemetery.

Mr. Moore, a retired farmer and drywall installer, was the oldest of 17 children born to his late parents, Clayton R. and Dorothy Sasser Moore of Seven Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie James Stanley Moore of the home; a son, Charles Stanley of Chester, Va.; a daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Stanley of the home; two grandchildren, Carrie Chilton and husband, Thomas, of Rocky Mount, and Cody Stanley of Chester, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Devin Stanley, Gage Chilton and Collin Stanley. Also surviving are his 16 siblings and their spouses; Annie M. and Tommy Williams of Prince George, Va., Jan M. and George Raecher of Goldsboro, Henry and Bonnie Moore of Chester, Va., Sue M. and Bob White of Goldsboro, Shelton and Brenda Moore of Seven Springs, Kenneth Moore of Carolina Beach, Horace Moore of Chester, Va., the Rev. Thomas and Donnie Moore of Clayton, Iris M. and Jimmy Hudson of Seven Springs, the Rev. Johnny and Wanda Moore of Fayetteville, Billy and Melinda Moore of Littleton, Dorothy M. Messere of Mineral, Va., Dixie M. and Kelly Shiels of Charlotte; Donna M. and Dwight Kearney of Seven Springs, Darryl and Michelle Moore of Statesville, and Carol M. and Jon Gillis of Goldsboro; and a brother-in-law and wife, James R. and Helen James of Brentwood, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Allie Stanley-Chilton.
