MOUNT OLIVE and KINSTON -- Evelyn Bartlett Lancaster, 84, Mount Olive and Kinston, went to be with her Lord Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Greendale Forest Nursing Center in Snow Hill.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the chapel of Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston, with the Rev. Jeff Daughtry officiating.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. prior to the service, and interment will be at Pinelawn Cemetery in Kinston immediately following the service.

Evelyn was born in Wayne County Nov. 5, 1928, to the late James F. "Jimmy" Bartlett and Bertha Futrell Bartlett.

She was a retired nurse.

She was a member of May's Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church in Dudley, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

She was also an expert seamstress, and enjoyed working in her yard.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Charles R. Lancaster and wife, Harriet, of Wilmington and J. Reb Lancaster and wife, Debra, of Kinston; her daughter, Barbara E. Lancaster and husband, Frank Harrison, of Mount Olive; seven grandchildren, Jeff Lancaster and wife, Melissa, of Raleigh, Johnny Lancaster and wife, Stephanie of Carolina Beach, Chris Williams and wife, Jeanne, of Pensacola, Fla., Amy Witherington of Mount Olive, Kris Harrison and wife, Kasey, of Garner, Shannon Lambdin and husband, Dave, of Gallatin, Tenn., and Elizabeth L. Mewborn of Kinston; and five great-grandchildren, Drew Witherington, Jillian and Bates Lancaster and Abby and Lilly Harrison.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles Edwin Lancaster, five brothers and a sister.

She was the last surviving child of Jimmy and Bertha Bartlett.

Flowers are welcomed, but memorials may be made to the Charles Edwin and Evelyn Bartlett Lancaster Scholarship Endowment at Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C., or a charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home, and other times at the respective homes of her children.

Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
