MARY W. SHARRETT

Mary Witherington Sharrett, 88, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.

Mrs. Sharrett was born in Duplin County, and was the daughter of Cicero E. and Vera Mae Witherington. She was the beloved wife of the late Lowell D. Sharrett.

Mrs. Sharrett spent many of her adult years as a devoted military wife, even serving as a civilian aircraft mechanic during World War II.

After her husband's 40-plus years of military and government service, the couple retired to Dudley, where they lived many years among family and friends.

Mrs. Sharrett was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sewing and needlecrafts.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn; son, James; four sisters; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor Kris Decker officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
