Charles L. "Chuck" Lupton, 69, 880 Church of God Road, died Tuesday at Wake Medical Center.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534. The Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson will officiate.

Family will receive friends following the funeral in the church.

Private graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at Martin Pate Cemetery, 119 Pate Farm Lane, (Patetown) Goldsboro.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Starr Smith Lupton; a daughter, Melissa Lee Gretten of Delanson, N.Y.; stepson, John Stephen Lewis of Fremont; stepdaughter, Lisa Beth Corser of Goldsboro; mother, Ruth Hartley Lupton of Pikeville; sisters, Joan L. Allen of Pikeville and Judy L. Williams of Farmville; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. L. James Lupton, and son, Brandon Lee Lupton.

Mr. Lupton was a retired pipe fitter and Precision Plumbing Co. In his later days, he worked for Gateway Transit of Wayne County.

He was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, Ambassador Sunday school class and Primetimes.

Mr. Lupton served his country in the United States Air Force, where he received the Outstanding Unit Award and Expeditionary Medal.

The Family requests that memorials be made to Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
