DOUGLAS WADE KORNEGAY

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Douglas Wade Kornegay, 65, North Charleston, passed away Jan. 5, 2013.

Born in Mount Olive, he was the son of Doris Kornegay Holland and the late Everett Lee Kornegay.

He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam, retiring as a senior chief.

After his military career, he went to work for Foster-Wheeler, retiring as a plant manager.

Mr. Kornegay was a member of Riverbluff Church.

He enjoyed fishing and playing golf and loved woodworking.

He will be missed by his loving wife, mother, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Thigpen Kornegay of the home; mother, Doris Kornegay Holland of Mount Olive; three daughters, Denise Norris and husband, Ken, of Charleston, Tonya Wolfe of Charleston and Angela Olsen and husband, Shaun, of Stowe, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Curtis Arant, Lydia Hommel and husband, Amos, Patrick Wolfe, Meghan Wolfe, Rachel Wolfe, Collin Olsen and Jeremiah Olsen; brother, Glenn Kornegay and wife, Anne, of Teachey; and sister-in-law, Kaye Thomas and husband, Richard, of Red Springs.

Douglas Wade was predeceased by his father, Everett Kornegay; stepfather, Gray Holland; and brother, Jerry Kornegay.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at noon at Riverbluff Church, 5421 Riverbluff Parkway, North Charleston.

The family will receive friends prior from 11 a.m. until service.

Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
